Bike Otago has been busy helping to organise and sponsor events within the Dunedin Community.
Greg attended a Scout meeting in Mornington and spoke to the Scouts on Thursday 28th October about how to maintain bikes . eg how to fix punctures and keep their bikes in top running order.Bike Otago is also donating a pink Malvern Star Storm bicycle and helmet to The Zumba Convention being held at The Edgar Centre on Sunday 31st October. The pink Malvern Star bike and helmet will be raffled off to raise money for The NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.
Doors at The Edgar Centre for this event open at 2.30pm and the Pink Class party will start at approx. 3pm
We are also sponsoring an event called Death In Dudsvile that is being held at The Town Park(over the Railway Bridge) in Dunedin on Sunday 31st October. This is a jump jam competition where you can dress up in halloween costumes and have a go. Tony has lots of prizes to give a way.

We have been busy supporting many different events over the past month.
We sponsored the Junior Tour de Tairei Road Cycling Event along with Cycling Otago on 18th /19th September and this was well attended.
Despite the stormy weather it was a successful event.
We also have been actively involved in helping with repairing bikes for free on Sunday 10th October as part of the International Day of action organised by environmental campaign group 350.org at North Dunedin Intermediate School. This was organised by Alex King from the group TransitionValley 473.Many happy bike riders were happy to have their bikes fixed.
Here is Jarna repairing a bike for free.

Every Sunday, Magnum from Bike Otago helps Downhill riders to get up to the top of Signal Hill so they can ride their bikes down. Riders leave from Logan Park School Carpark at 9.30am. Last Sunday we hired a bus from Handy Rentals and we had 30 riders turn up. They all had a great time.

Good golly, this Super D thing is much fun what!
I dunno if Ben knows something we don’t or that Gary Fisher of his has some freakish time-travelling ability but he’s getting down there pretty nippy-like. Tristan showed that you don’t need gears to go fast and Magnum showed how to cook a mean sausage. Thanks Greg.
RESULTS!
