Yeti Demo Tour Kicks off in Dunedin

There’s pizza, beer, and celebrations all around tonight at Bike Otago, as tomorrow Yeti kicks off their massively popular Demo Days, starting in Dunedin. It’s a great way to view and try out the new Yeti bikes, as well as pre-ordering your own so you’re prepared for riding this Spring.

Mat is doing a big roadie around the country,  travelling to 12 locations in New Zealand to spread the Yeti love. The Dunedin Bike Otago team have overhauled the Yeti Van to include all the best Yeti bikes and gear, as well as a cheeky BBQ. The new van kit out is looking pretty sweet and we can’t wait to share it with you all.

We had a quick chat to Mat from Yeti about the Demo Days...

Why would you recommend someone comes to a Yeti Demo Day?

It's a great way to ride a new bike on a local trail that you know. It's important to get the right size and style of bike for you, and a Yeti Demo Day allows you to have a test run before you choose a bike and shelling out a shit load of money !

What do people need to bring to the Yeti Demo Day?

All you need to bring are your riding shoes, your pedals, a smile and an open mind ready to be blown away. We do have a couple of pairs of clipless pedals and flats if you forget, but really do suggest you bring your own as it will give you a better feel for the bike.

Tomorrow’s demo day is at the top of Signal Hill, so if you’ve already registered, we’re looking forward to seeing you there! The demo days this year have been hugely popular so if you’ve missed out, make sure you are following the Yeti NZ and Bike Otago Facebook pages to find out when the next Yeti Demo Day is happening.

Good as Gold! 2017 Yeti SB6 Custom Build

Yeti Cycle's 2017 range recently landed in New Zealand, and since then we've been itching to get the chance to build up one of the frames. Well, our wishes came true and the result was this beauty of a custom SB6.

Built up on Yeti's new TURQ series frame (made with the highest quality carbon fiber available, according to Yeti) this bike is looking to be an absolute enduro beast. With 6 inches of travel in the rear and a monster 170mm Rock Shox Lyrik up front, this SB6 is built to crush the downhill.

Arguably the biggest attention grabber on the bike is the drivetrain. Also brand new for this year, SRAM's XX1 Eagle line pulled out all the stops with its jaw-dropping gold colour scheme. Still holding strong to their 1x set up, SRAM added one more chainring to the rear giving birth to this behemoth of a 12 speed, 10-50 tooth cassette.

Rounding out the impressive build were a pair of blue Hope Pro 4 hubs laced to SRAM Roam Carbon rims, SRAM Guide RSC brakes, MRP chain guide, Reverb dropper post and Thomson Trail Carbon bars. It's safe to say we're pretty stoked on this build!

His & Hers Yeti ASRc's

Among this weeks custom bike builds, a noticeable stand-out would have to be this pair of Yeti ASRc's! Both rocking far from standard builds, these things look amazing!

His: A large size turq frame with Rock Shox Reba fork, SRAM X01 drivetrain, XT brakes and Thomson cockpit.

Hand built by Jeremy - a drool-worthy wheelset consisting of ENVE 50/50 rims laced to the reliable Hope Pro 2 Evo's

Hers: A small ASRc Beti frame with matching Fox 32 fork. The Beti's are generally sold as a complete bike but our customer wanted to change a few things. Not a problem, we said! A Shimano XT 2x11 drivetrain, XT brakes and Thomson cockpit all rolling on a set of the beautifully light Stans Valor carbon wheels.

All built up - an absolute demon of a bike!

These two look so good together!

This weeks bike builds

We've had a few very nice bike builds on the go this week!

Early in the week our new mechanic Jeremy got stuck into building up our Niner WFO frame. Kitted out with a solid build including a Rockshox Pike RCT3 160mm up front, Stans Flow EX wheelset, topped off with the ever so popular XT M8000 1 x 11 drivetrain and brakes. If you're a fan of 29" wheels and need a long legged trail bike, then the WFO definitely fits the bill! This is now on display in the shop so come on down and take a look!

Next up was a Yeti ASRc! Built also as a display bike, this one sports a tasteful build of Sram X01 drivetrain with Shimano XT Brakes, Fox suspension, rolling on Stans ZTR Valor Carbon Wheels. An absolute weapon for rough XC races or as a lightweight trail bike.

One of the most anticipated builds this year would have to have been Calum Booth's Santa Cruz V10. The V10 frame itself is an absolute thing of beauty and was even shipped with Fox's latest generation X2 rear shock! Joel had the pleasure of putting this one together, which made the rest of us quite jealous!

Calum decided to go for SRAMs X01 DH 7 Speed Groupset, which meant a little time waiting but it was well worth it! With a Rockshox Boxxer World Cup up front, SRAM Guide RSC Brakes, and the solid and reliable Stans Flow EX rims on Hope Pro2 Evo Hubs, this thing is an absolute weapon! We wish Calum all the best for the coming season!

To round off the week, we've got and Ibis Mojo HD3 being built right now! A gorgeous frame sporting Fox's new X2 air shock. We'll have more details of this build up in the next few days.

Happy Riding!

Yeti SB66 Sale

We thought you might like to know that Black Seal have just launched a big promotion on the Yeti SB66 - a whopping 15-30% off all stocked SB66 frames. This includes alloyalloy/carbon, and full carbon models, both 2013 and 2014.

There are a lot of rumors about Yeti discontinuing the SB66. We can't confirm anything, but one thing is for sure... it's still one of the most successful enduro bikes in the world, and Kiwi customers love how it suits the trail conditions here in NZ. Yeti provide the best warranty and backup support, so SB66 owners will have nothing to worry about for many years to come. With these great discounts there has never been a better time to buy one!

Here is our new price list for the SB66:
SB66C - was $4200, now $3570
SB66AC - was $3200, now $2730
SB66A - was $3200, now $2240

The upgrade to Float-X is still available for $250

To keep those SB66s well-specced we've also just landed a new SRAM X01 drive/brakes kit: X01 drivetrain, 32t ring, Trail X0 brakeset for $1541, available with any Yeti frame

We've also sold all but one Yeti 303-WC downhill frame - we're selling this one remaining frame for $2500.
